Ski-in/ski-out

Forni di Sopra is a valley-floor village and most hotels need a 5 to 10 minute walk or shuttle to the Varmost gondola; a few chalets sit closer to the lift base.

Get to know the resort

Forni di Sopra is the largest of the upper Tagliamento villages, a string of stone-and-larch frazioni strung along the river beneath the Friulian Dolomites. The 25 km of pistes split between three linked sectors: Davost for beginners, Varmost for the longer red runs, and Crusicalas at the top for the steeper finish. The setting inside the national park keeps the lift infrastructure modest and the scenery uncrowded, with views to the Pramaggiore and Cridola peaks across the valley. Off the slopes the village has cross-country tracks along the river, snowshoe trails into the park, and a handful of old osterias still serving frico, cjarsons and Carnic polenta. You will also notice some log-built houses in the Sappada style, a reminder of the Germanic-speaking pockets just over the next pass. Lift passes are among the cheapest in the Italian Alps for the size of domain.
