Piancavallo

Piancavallo sits on the Pordenone plateau at 1,290 m, catching moist Adriatic fronts that drop more snow here than altitude alone would suggest. The 30 km of pistes are family-shaped, but the FIS slalom run keeps race squads coming back through winter.

Ski-in/ski-out

Piancavallo's car-free plateau means most hotels are within 200 m of a lift, with a handful of true ski-in/ski-out properties on the Tremol side.

Get to know the resort

Piancavallo is a planned plateau station above Aviano, an hour from Venice and forty minutes from Pordenone, with everything inside a walkable car-free centre. The 30 km of pistes spread across the Tremol and Sauc bowls, where the gradient stays friendly for intermediates and beginners while the FIS slalom course offers something steeper. Adriatic snowfalls are the surprise factor here: when warm fronts hit the Friulian foothills, accumulations are heavier than at higher Dolomite resorts. On clear days the view from the upper lifts stretches down to the Adriatic coast, a panorama no other Italian station can match. Off-snow, the small shopping arcade, sports hall and Olympic-size skating rink give families everything they need between sessions. Lift passes, hotel rooms and lessons are priced well below the Dolomite headline rates.
