Get to know the resort
If you have ever seen a photograph of the Dolomites, there is a good chance it was taken at Lake Carezza. The little lake sits at 1,534 m just above the resort, ringed by larch and spruce, and at sunset it reflects the spires of the Catinaccio (Rosengarten in German) glowing pink in the alpenglow. Local Ladin legend says King Laurin's enchanted rose garden was turned to stone there, which is why the modern ski sector carries his name. The resort itself opens at 1,182 m on the road that runs between Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa, and the Kรถnig Laurin domain reaches 2,337 m with about 40 km of piste. Most of the slopes are wide blues and gentle reds with the Latemar on one side and the Catinaccio on the other, which makes Carezza one of the most photogenic family resorts in the whole Dolomites. The lift system was rebuilt with the high-capacity Pra di Tori and Paolina gondolas, lift queues stay short, and the snowpark at Pra di Tori is a fixture for freestyle riders. Because Carezza sits inside the Dolomiti Superski circuit, your pass also gives you Val di Fassa, Val di Fiemme, Obereggen and the rest of the 1,200 km network. The villages are South Tyrolean, German and Italian are spoken interchangeably, and the food on the mountain huts shows it: speck, canederli, strudel and a glass of Lagrein on a sun terrace facing the Rosengarten.
