Ski-in/ski-out

Ski-in/ski-out is limited in the village itself. Most accommodation is a short walk from the gondola, which connects straight into the Matterhorn Ski Paradise.

Get to know the resort

Seven kilometres below the purpose-built Cervinia, Valtournenche keeps its stone houses, its parish church and its working population intact. The gondola climbs straight into the Matterhorn Ski Paradise, where the lifts top out at 3,480 m on Klein Matterhorn and the domain runs all the way across the border to Zermatt. Snow is almost guaranteed thanks to the altitude, and the long red pistes back down to the village are the area's quiet pleasure. Evenings stay Italian: polenta, fontina, a glass of Petite Arvine, and none of the resort polish you get further up the road. For skiers who want the big domain without the big-resort feel, this is the address.

Good to know

  • The terrain is well balanced: 0 green, 100 blue, 130 red and 20 black runs, which suits a mixed group skiing together at different levels.
  • With a base at 1524 m climbing to 3480 m, snow reliability is among the best on our index (score 90/100).
  • It is one of the bigger domains here, 350 km of piste on 30 lifts, enough to ski a different sector every day of a week.
  • The lifts typically turn for about 23 weeks a season, planning around late January to late February tends to land the most reliable cover.
