Asiago

Asiago sits on the Sette Comuni plateau at 1,000 m, a wide Veneto highland of pasture, cheese dairies and pine that knows snow better than the rest of the region. A constellation of small alpine areas (Kaberlaba, Verena 2000, Larici, Roana Mezzaselva) totals 40 km of piste, and 500 km of cross-country loops make this the largest nordic network in southern Europe.

Ski-in/ski-out

Asiago has no real ski-in/ski-out, since the small alpine areas are spread around the plateau and the town itself sits between them. Most hotels run a free skibus to Kaberlaba, Verena and the cross-country trailheads.

Get to know the resort

Alpine skiing here is small-scale and family-shaped: short verticals, gentle reds, magic carpets at every base, and ski schools that switch fluently between Italian, Veneto dialect and a bit of English. The real reason to come is the cross-country, with the Plateau loops at Campolongo, Gallio and Verena groomed to FIS standard and miles of tracks through pine forest along Cima Larici and Cima Mandriolo. Snowshoeing across the malga pastures is a serious half-day option, often finishing at a working cheese dairy where the Asiago DOP is matured and tasted in slabs. The Sacrario Militare on Monte Leiten gives the plateau its solemn First World War memory, with bus tours from town in season. Asiago itself is a real plateau capital with a wide main square, daily market, proper coffee bars, and chains of hotels that have served weekend Venetians for a century. Venice is 90 minutes by road, which makes a culture day easy.
