Get to know the resort
Königsleiten works almost like a small purpose-built resort grafted onto an old pass village. Sitting at 1,600 m, it is one of the highest village bases in Austria, and it pays off across the season with consistent snow and a long opening window. From here the Zillertal Arena rolls out 145 km of mostly blue and red piste through wide, treeless bowls at altitude before the runs drop into the trees towards Gerlos and Zell am Ziller. The piste mix is family-friendly, 55 km of blues and 60 km of reds, with 15 km of blacks above for sterner days. Crucially, the village is tightly clustered around its own lifts, so beginners can keep their lessons close to base while stronger skiers head across to the panoramic Übergangsjoch or down the long valley descents to Zell. Off-snow, Königsleiten is intentionally quiet, suited to those who want a real high-altitude base and ski-in/ski-out apartments, with the louder Zillertal nightlife reserved for nights down in Zell.
