Sedrun

Sedrun is a Romansh-speaking Surselva village at the head of the Vorderrhein, the kind of quiet snow-pocket the Swiss kept to themselves until the lifts went up over the Oberalp pass. The link across to Andermatt and Disentis built the SkiArena Andermatt-Sedrun-Disentis, 180 km of piste on one forfait. From the village square it is a short walk to the gondola and a long, calm day of skiing on the Andermatt side for half the price.

Ski-in/ski-out

A handful of hotels sit directly on the home run at Dieni, but most of the village is a 5 to 10 minute walk or a short ski-bus ride from the gondola.

Get to know the resort

Sedrun's own slopes climb from 1,400 m to the Cuolm da Vi shoulder and then up to the Schneehühnerstock at 2,961 m, where the ridge opens north onto Andermatt's Gemsstock-facing terrain. Snow falls early and stays late on this side of the Oberalp, the same continental pocket that keeps Disentis going into spring. Beginners and families get rolling blue runs above Milez and a long, sunny return into the village; stronger skiers cross the pass for the steeper, freeride-leaning Andermatt half of the domain. The Romansh-speaking Surselva is one of Switzerland's least loud corners, so evenings stay calm in a stuben or beside the fire of a country hotel. The Rhaetian Railway up the Vorderrhein is the proper way to arrive, and the same train continues to the Glacier Express in summer. Lift-pass prices are noticeably lower than Andermatt's, and ski schools quote the same domain for half the cost.
