Get to know the resort
Perched on the Belledonne range directly above Grenoble, Chamrousse is the city's home mountain and the site of the 1968 Olympic downhill, reachable in well under an hour from the valley. Its 90 km of piste rise to the 2250 m Croix de Chamrousse, where the panorama sweeps from the Vercors to Mont Blanc, with friendly forested runs lower down and steeper, more open terrain up top. It is excellent value and especially good for families and beginners, with a lively student crowd at weekends.
