Vallter 2000 occupies a dramatic glacial cirque at the head of the Ter valley above Setcases, the most easterly ski resort in the Pyrenees and high enough at 1960 m to hold good snow. Its compact 18 km of piste rise to 2535 m, and on clear days the views reach all the way to the Costa Brava and the Mediterranean. Small, scenic and easy to reach from Girona and Barcelona, it is a charming day or weekend mountain for Catalan families.
