Get to know the resort
The mountain itself is gentle by Alpine standards but vast for Finland, with 45 km of pistes spread across the rounded shoulders of the 525 m Levitunturi. Sirkka village wraps around the lift base in a tidy grid of log cabins, glass igloos and reindeer farms, all walkable in the polar-night darkness. The Aurora forecast is part of every breakfast conversation here, and Northern Lights tours leave nightly into the snowbound forests of Kittilä. Cross-country trails fan out for hundreds of kilometres into the surrounding fells, and dog-sledding kennels operate within walking distance of the centre. A long season runs from late October to early May, with reliable cold and dry snow through the heart of winter.
