Idre Fjäll

Idre Fjäll is the flagship of Swedish family resorts, perched at 590 m above the village of Idre on a broad, rounded fjäll. 45 km of pistes and 31 lifts are arranged so that small children can move freely between sectors, and the local micro-climate posts some of the highest snow totals in central Sweden. The new Idre Himmelfjäll project will add a linked area just down the road.

Get to know the resort

The Idre Fjäll plateau spreads at gentle gradients between 590 m and 870 m, with 10 greens and 18 blues forming the heart of the network and a handful of reds and blacks for steeper progression. The lifts and on-mountain restaurants are deliberately concentrated around a single base village, so families can ski, eat, swap children and ski again without ever loading a car. The local micro-climate, sheltered from coastal warming and exposed to cold continental flows, gives some of the most reliable cover in central Sweden, with reasonable snow on rocks from late November to April. Long-running children's ski schools have shaped generations of Swedish racers, and the resort runs Scandinavian Cup events. The Idre Himmelfjäll development, a few kilometres east, is rolling out a second connected ski area, more accommodation and a fresh slope build-out as the wider Idre destination grows.
