Hopfgarten

Hopfgarten is a working Brixental village at 620 m that handles its lift access to the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental quietly, while busier Söll handles the marketing. The 284 km network is one of Austria's largest interconnected ski areas, and Hopfgarten's own Hohe Salve sector climbs to 1,957 m for the postcard 360 degree view.

Ski-in/ski-out

The Hopfgartenbahn cable car climbs straight out of the eastern edge of the village, so a small cluster of hotels and apartments near the base get genuine ski-in/ski-out; the village ski-bus handles the rest in a few minutes.

Get to know the resort

On a Top Snow Card day you can ski from Hopfgarten across to Ellmau, Going, Scheffau and Söll without taking the same chair twice, with a mix of wide blue cruisers, well-pitched reds and a handful of blacks that hold their shape into the afternoon. Snowmaking is heavy across the SkiWelt and almost all main routes are open from December, though the bottom return to Hopfgarten is the part to watch in soft conditions. Off the slopes, the village keeps its working Tirolean centre: a frescoed parish church, working Bauernhof farms in the surrounding hamlets, a calmer après-ski than Söll, and direct trains from Munich and Innsbruck for a low-stress car-free trip. For families and intermediates who want SkiWelt scale without SkiWelt crowds, Hopfgarten is the obvious entry.
