Ski-in/ski-out

Most hotels are built around the base lifts at 1,515 m, so ski-in/ski-out is the norm rather than the exception. A handful of properties on the Carona side are a short shuttle away.

Get to know the resort

Foppolo sits at the head of the Brembana valley at 1,515 m, the closest reliable high-altitude ski address to Milan. Over the Montebello pass the lifts spill down into Carona on the other side, and the two together carry the Brembo Ski banner with 56 km of piste and 14 lifts. The character is unmistakably Milanese: lively on Saturdays and Sundays, quieter mid-week, with a fan base that has been coming up the SS470 for forty winters. The piste book reads 15 blues, 10 reds and 5 blacks, but the experience is dominated by the wide, north-facing motorways under the Quarta Baita ridge, where the snow holds well and the runs are long enough to settle into a rhythm. The snowpark on the Montebello side is the freestyle hub for the Bergamo plain, busy with teenagers from the city. Foppolo's village is small and functional rather than postcard, a row of hotels and bars built around the lift base, which is part of its honest, value-priced appeal. The season runs from December 7 to April 7. Snow score 74 reflects an altitude that needs a cold winter but rewards it.
