Ski-in/ski-out

Genuine ski-in/ski-out is the rule across Bettmeralp at 1,950 m: the car-free village is built directly on the pistes of the Aletsch Arena, with hotels stepping straight onto the snow.

Get to know the resort

Bettmeralp earns its place in the small club of true Swiss balcony villages. You leave the car in Betten down in the RhΓ΄ne valley, take the cable car up, and step out at 1,950 m onto a snow-packed square with no traffic, no fumes and a view straight down the longest glacier in the Alps. The skiing belongs to the Aletsch Arena, the joint domain shared with Riederalp and Fiescheralp, 104 km of piste and 35 lifts spread along a south-facing ridge that climbs to 2,870 m. The mix is 30 blues, 25 reds and 12 blacks, with the easier runs gathered on the upper plateau and the steeper terrain dropping toward Kuhboden and Fiescheralp. The Aletsch glacier itself is the constant companion: a UNESCO World Heritage site, 23 km long, framing every chairlift ride. The combination of altitude, north-facing sectors and dry inner-Alpine climate gives the snow a notably long shelf life and a snow score of 88. Bettmeralp village is small and compact, traditional Valais chalets along a single car-free axis, so genuine ski-in/ski-out is the rule for almost every hotel. Season November 30 to April 21.
