Swiss Alps, Switzerland 🇨🇭
A car-free balcony in the Valais at 1,950 m, perched above the Aletsch glacier, with a UNESCO panorama at the door and 104 km of piste in the Aletsch Arena.
Generally yes. From 1950 m at the base to 2870 m up top, the profile holds snow well across a normal winter (score 88/100).
Bettmeralp is car-free. You park at the resort entrance and reach the village without a car; most lodging then opens straight onto the snow, so the car can stay put all week.
With 104 km of piste on 35 lifts, it is a mid-size area, easy to get to know over a long weekend. The terrain is balanced (0 green, 30 blue, 25 red, 12 black), which suits a mixed-level group skiing together.
Bettmeralp stands out for glacier skiing up high.
The season usually runs Nov 30 to Apr 21 (about 20 weeks). For the most dependable cover, the deep-winter window of January to February is the safe bet. The altitude also holds spring snow, so late-season skiing stays good well into spring.
