Get to know the resort
Mürren clings to a cliff edge opposite the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, a car-free village reached only by cable car and mountain railway. Its 54 km of piste are compact but high and snow-sure, with the Schilthorn at 2970 m serving steep, exhilarating descents back to the village. British skiers more or less invented downhill racing here in the 1920s, and the legendary Inferno race still runs every winter.

- With 54 km of piste on 16 lifts, it is a mid-size area, easy to get to know in a long weekend.
- The lifts typically turn for about 18 weeks a season, planning around late January to late February tends to land the most reliable cover.
