Hokkaido
Tomamu is a true ski-in/ski-out resort. The Tower and Risonare buildings sit at the base, linked by heated walkways to the lifts and the gondola, so you click into your skis steps from the room. It is one of the most seamless mountain-to-bed setups in Japan.

Not the whole resort, but specific hotels or sectors put you right on the piste. Pick the address carefully.

Hokkaido
True ski-in ski-out is realistic in upper Hirafu near the Family lift, mid-Annupuri, and the Hanazono base. Many central Hirafu hotels are a short shuttle or walk to the gondola, not directly slope-side.

Hokkaido
True ski-in ski-out is concentrated at the Rusutsu Resort Tower complex and the Westin Rusutsu Resort, both directly on the West Mountain base. Outlying lodges rely on a free shuttle, perfectly fine but not slope-side.

Japanese Alps
Akakura Onsen and Akakura Kanko both have a strong selection of true ski-in ski-out ryokan and hotels right on the piste edge. Suginohara is more spread out, so expect a short transfer or driving day if you base yourself there.
Base 750 m · Pistes 50 km

Hokkaido
Genuine ski-in ski-out is limited to the Furano Prince and New Furano Prince at the Kitanomine and Furano base areas. Hotels in central Furano town are a ten-minute shuttle ride from the lifts.

Japanese Alps
Several ryokan and hotels at Ichinose, Hasuike and Yakebitaiyama drop you straight onto a lift line, so true ski-in ski-out exists here. Be aware that linking nineteen resorts often means short transfers or a final shuttle home.

Goryu has a handful of true ski-in/ski-out hotels and pensions right at the Toomi gondola base and the Escal Plaza, which is unusual for Hakuba. Most other valley lodgings need a short shuttle, so book the base hotels early if morning-first-chair convenience matters.
