Ski-in/ski-out

The old village of Valloire sits right at the foot of its slopes, so plenty of hotels and chalets are a short walk or ski from the lifts.

Get to know the resort

Valloire is that increasingly rare thing, a high-mountain resort that grew from a real Savoyard village, complete with a baroque church and working farms, at the foot of the legendary Col du Galibier. Its slopes climb both sides of the valley and connect with neighbouring Valmeinier to make the 150 km Galibier-Thabor domain, sunny and nicely balanced between gentle and challenging. The atmosphere is friendly and unpretentious, with a famous ice and snow sculpture festival that fills the village square each winter.

Good to know

  • The terrain is well balanced: 12 green, 25 blue, 26 red and 8 black runs, which suits a mixed group skiing together at different levels.
  • The base sits at 1430 m and the top reaches 2600 m, a profile that holds snow well across a normal winter (score 80/100).
  • At 150 km of piste on 30 lifts, it is a substantial mountain that earns a multi-day stay.
  • The lifts typically turn for about 17 weeks a season, planning around late January to late February tends to land the most reliable cover.
