Get to know the resort
With nearly 25 km of well-balanced runs served by a gondola and a spread of chairs and surface lifts, Chapelco suits families and intermediate skiers especially well, while its forest glades reward those who like to play among the trees. The mountain has a single, well-organised base area with rentals, a ski school and mountain restaurants, and sits about 20 km from San Martin de los Andes, an easy drive or shuttle ride up a paved access road.
Good to know
- The terrain is well balanced: 9 green, 5 blue, 12 red and 3 black runs, which suits a mixed group skiing together at different levels.
- From 1250 m at the base to 1980 m up top, the resort leans on grooming and snowmaking in lean spells (score 74/100).
- It is a compact resort, 24.6 km of piste on 11 lifts, best as a day trip or a relaxed short break rather than a week-long base.
- The lifts typically turn for about 14 weeks a season, planning around late January to late February tends to land the most reliable cover.
