Get to know the resort
With gentle, well groomed pistes and short lift lines, Cerro Bayo suits families and intermediate skiers far more than thrill seekers, and it is ideal for anyone after a quiet, scenic day on the snow. The skiable terrain spreads across open slopes high above the lake, with a handful of steeper runs and off piste for stronger legs. Getting there is easy: it sits about 9 km from Villa La Angostura, a short drive up Provincial Route 66, so most people base themselves in town and head up for the day.
Good to know
- The terrain is well balanced: 3 green, 7 blue, 9 red and 6 black runs, which suits a mixed group skiing together at different levels.
- From 1050 m at the base to 1782 m up top, the resort leans on grooming and snowmaking in lean spells (score 72/100).
- It is a compact resort, 14 km of piste on 11 lifts, best as a day trip or a relaxed short break rather than a week-long base.
- The lifts typically turn for about 13 weeks a season, planning around late January to late February tends to land the most reliable cover.
