Ski-in/ski-out

Candanchú is a slope-side cluster of hotels right at the lifts by the Somport pass, so most beds are a few steps from the snow; the larger town of Jaca lies down the valley.

Get to know the resort

Skiing began at Candanchú in 1928, and the resort still feels gloriously old-fashioned, a cluster of mountain hotels at the foot of north-facing slopes right by the Somport tunnel into France. Its 50 km of piste hide a surprising amount of serious terrain, with steep couloirs and long off-piste lines that draw expert skiers from across northern Spain. Modern neighbour Astún is minutes away by road, but Candanchú keeps its own rugged, mountaineering character and some of the most dependable snow in the Aragonese Pyrenees.
