How we picked
South Korea's ski map is dominated by Gangwon Province, where PyeongChang hosted the 2018 Olympics. Yongpyong ran the alpine slalom + GS, Phoenix Pyeongchang the freestyle + snowboard, Alpensia the jumping + nordic + sliding. High1 in Jeongseon is the family-friendly mass-market giant. Closer to Seoul, Vivaldi Park, Konjiam and Oak Valley pack day-trippers in for night skiing under stadium lights, while Welli Hilli Park sits in between. Further south, Muju Deogyusan hides Korea's highest skiable peak at 1614 m, and Eden Valley above Busan rounds the list as the most southerly ski resort in the country. Heavy snowmaking, lifts into the small hours, KTX trains to the door.
