Buller's village is genuinely on-snow: most lodges sit beside Bourke Street, Skyline or the Village run, with ski racks at the door. The cliffside layout means some properties involve stairs or a short cat track, so check vertical position before booking.

Not the whole resort, but specific hotels or sectors put you right on the piste. Pick the address carefully.

Because the village runs along a ridge, lodges on the south side of the Great Alpine Road are usually true ski-in/ski-out into Big D or Heavenly Valley. The reverse-style layout means some addresses require a short uphill walk back at day's end.

Thredbo's village is built into the slope, so true ski-in/ski-out exists but is concentrated in a few addresses near the Kosciuszko Express and Friday Flat. Lower-village lodges rely on the Village Bobsled chair. Book early for slopeside.
