Ski-in/ski-out

Lenk's hotels mostly sit in the village at 1,068 m, a short walk or shuttle from the Betelberg gondola and the Metsch chairlift. True ski-in/ski-out is rare, on-snow rather than slope-side is the realistic expectation.

Get to know the resort

Lenk is what people are thinking of when they say they want an authentic Swiss village. At 1,068 m at the head of the Simmental, it has resisted the temptation to turn itself into a resort and remained a working community where farms still ring the slopes. The skiing is shared with Adelboden over the Hahnenmoos pass, the joint Adelboden-Lenk domain offering 185 km of piste and 53 lifts on a single ticket. The split is 45 blues, 30 reds and 12 blacks, which tells you what to expect: this is gentle, broad terrain with a few sharper edges. The Betelberg side, reached by gondola from the village, is a wide sunny plateau perfect for families and progressing intermediates. The Metsch side is steeper and faster, the link to Adelboden taking you onto the Chuenisbergli, where the Audi FIS Ski World Cup giant slalom is run. Lenk village is genuinely Swiss in its rhythm: the bakery opens early, the cafes close early, and the Trümmelbachfälle waterfall hike in summer reminds you that this is the Bernese Oberland of postcards. Snow score 76, season December 7 to April 14.
