Ski-in/ski-out

Branäs is built as a true ski-in ski-out village: most of the lodging clusters at the foot of the slopes, with a magic-carpet practically at the door.

Get to know the resort

The fjäll rises just 295 vertical metres, from 270 m to 565 m, but the layout is clever: 14 lifts feed 16 km of mostly green and blue pistes that fan out around a compact village base. Branäs has built its reputation on children: a magic-carpet zone the size of a small resort, a dedicated kids' lift area and ski-school groups that run from age three. The two and a half hour drive from Oslo and three and a half from Stockholm puts it within weekend reach of two capitals, and the package prices on lodging plus skipass undercut almost every other Swedish resort. Snow is reliable from late November through April thanks to extensive snowmaking and a north-facing main slope. There is nothing glamorous about Branäs, but for a first family ski week it does the job better than almost anywhere in Scandinavia.
