Ehrwald is the quiet Tirolean side of the Zugspitze, a village at 1,000 m that looks straight up at Germany's highest peak from the postcard angle. The Ehrwalder Almbahn opens a sunny family bowl under the Wettersteinwand, while the Zugspitzbahn climbs to 2,962 m for glacier skiing right on the border.
