Ascou is a tiny Ariège ski area at 1,500 m above Ax-les-Thermes, deep in the eastern Pyrenees. The lift-served piste runs to just 18 km, but the freeride terrain off the back of the Llaurenti plateau is the real story for those who know how to read it. It is the quiet door to a corner of the Pyrenees the package crowds skip.
