Green Mountains, United States 🇺🇸
They call it The Beast of the East, and the nickname earns itself every season. Killington is the largest ski area in the eastern United States, sprawled across six peaks, and it opens in late October when most resorts are still ordering snowmaking parts. By May it is still running. The K-1 gondola hoists you above 1200 metres of working Vermont mountain.
Generally yes. From 354 m at the base to 1289 m up top, the profile holds snow well across a normal winter (score 86/100).
Ski-in/ski-out depends on the address here: some hotels are on the snow, others need a short walk or shuttle. Pick a slopeside address if skiing from the door matters to you.
At 140 km of piste on 22 lifts, it is a substantial mountain that rewards a multi-day stay. The terrain is balanced (30 green, 51 blue, 41 red, 33 black), which suits a mixed-level group skiing together.
Killington stands out for a vast, multi-sector domain and lively après-ski.
The season usually runs Oct 28 to May 11 (about 28 weeks). For the most dependable cover, the deep-winter window of January to February is the safe bet. Conditions soften as spring arrives, so earlier in the window is the safer call.
