Green Mountains, United States 🇺🇸
Stowe is where American skiing was born. White clapboard church spires, a covered bridge over the West Branch, sugar maples bleeding crimson in November, then snow draping the spruce on Mt Mansfield. The village sits 11 kilometres from the lifts, and the free shuttle makes that distance feel like part of the ritual rather than a flaw.
Generally yes. From 463 m at the base to 1339 m up top, the profile holds snow well across a normal winter (score 84/100).
Ski-in/ski-out depends on the address here: some hotels are on the snow, others need a short walk or shuttle. Pick a slopeside address if skiing from the door matters to you.
With 80 km of piste on 13 lifts, it is a mid-size area, easy to get to know over a long weekend. It leans toward strong skiers (46 black and 23 red, with 25 green and 22 blue to warm up), so confident skiers get the most from it.
Stowe stands out for a genuinely iconic name.
The season usually runs Nov 22 to Apr 14 (about 20 weeks). For the most dependable cover, the deep-winter window of January to February is the safe bet. Conditions soften as spring arrives, so earlier in the window is the safer call.
