Moroccan Atlas, Morocco 🇲🇦
In the crater of an extinct volcano above Ifrane, Morocco's so-called Switzerland of cedar forests and colonial chalets, Mischliffen is a tiny ski circle that opens when winter cooperates. Two lifts, three kilometres of piste, and a Middle Atlas charm hard to find elsewhere.
It depends on conditions. At 2050 m to 2200 m this is a lower-altitude resort, so lean on the live snow report and stay flexible on dates (score 30/100).
This is more of a valley base than a slopeside village, so expect a lift, train or shuttle to the snow each morning. Staying central, near the main lift, saves the most time.
It is a compact area, 3 km of piste on 2 lifts, best for a short break or a focused trip rather than a full week. The piste mix leans gentle (1 green, 1 blue, 1 red, 0 black), so beginners and early intermediates are well served.
The season usually runs Jan 5 to Feb 28 (about 8 weeks). For the most dependable cover, the deep-winter window of January to February is the safe bet. The altitude also holds spring snow, so late-season skiing stays good well into spring.
