Norwegian Mountains, Norway 🇳🇴
Hafjell is the alpine mountain of Lillehammer, the resort that held the 1994 Olympic giant slalom and still skis on the same lines. The base sits at 200 m, the lifts top out at 1,090 m, and the whole place is barely an hour and a half from Oslo Airport.
Generally yes. From 200 m at the base to 1090 m up top, the profile holds snow well across a normal winter (score 80/100).
Ski-in/ski-out depends on the address here: some hotels are on the snow, others need a short walk or shuttle. Pick a slopeside address if skiing from the door matters to you.
With 53 km of piste on 18 lifts, it is a mid-size area, easy to get to know over a long weekend. The terrain is balanced (6 green, 20 blue, 20 red, 7 black), which suits a mixed-level group skiing together.
Hafjell stands out for a family-friendly setup, a racing and competition pedigree and a vast, multi-sector domain.
The season usually runs Nov 16 to Apr 14 (about 21 weeks). For the most dependable cover, the deep-winter window of January to February is the safe bet. Conditions soften as spring arrives, so earlier in the window is the safer call.
